Mike's Hot Dogs is a Schenectady staple. Bored of a fruit business, four brothers decided to open up this restaurant in 1947. Quickly becoming a favorite with the local GE workers, Mike's found themselves operating three shifts a day to accommodate demand for their grilled hot dogs. Over 70 years later, Mike's is still packed each day with locals and visitors alike.
Recently, Mike's has opened a food truck. Regulars at Riverside Maple Farms, they have added a maple twist to their iconic hot dogs. Check out the recipe below for this new classic!
MAPLE GLAZED HOT DOGS
Combine butter and maple syrup. Score each hot dog several times. Put into a skillet or grill and cover with syrup mixture. Simmer 15 min. Serve with maple glazed bacon or maple hot sauce aioli.
